Safety plan for thoughts of hurting yourself

Safety plan is a planning to help yourself through your dark days of your life.

  1. What I need to reduce the risk of acting on the suicidal thoughts?
  2. What are warnings signs or triggers are there that make me feel more out of control?
  3. What have I done in the past that helped? 
  4. what I will do to help calm and soothe myself?
  5. what will I tell myself ( reasons for living and other reminders)?
  6. What would I say to a close friend who was feeling this way?

Then it has who will you contract when your in trouble 

  1. friend/family member
  2. Backup person
  3. Access to 24/7 - 780 424 2424 ( edmonton)
  4. A safe place that I or you can go? Hospital, friends place, family members ?
  5. Go to emergency Department at the nearest hospital
  6. if you feel that I can't get to the hospital safely , call 9.1.1 and request transportation to the hospital. they will send someone to transport me safely?
